Member Drive 2022

Dear writers,

Here we are in autumn 2022 – the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness – in a world utterly changed and ever changing. What stays the same is that the heart of Writers SA is our community; we exist solely for writers and to nurture our literary culture. And so we introduce our first member drive, coinciding with the most literary of weeks in Adelaide, to welcome new writers into our spaces, welcome back returning members, and celebrate our wonderful member community.

Membership at Writers SA is something we are always thinking about and striving to make the most valuable, the most inclusive, the most impactful. As a not-for-profit member organisation, and one of the largest employers of writers in the state, your member fees go directly towards supporting the state’s writers and advocating on your behalf.

I love getting to know each and every writer who joins the organisation, who I meet with a welcome phone call and then connect with at our many events, and it’s a joy and inspiration to follow you as you release books and publish works.

We hope you join us here at Writers SA where we will always champion you and our state’s writers.

—Jessica Alice, Director, Writers SA

What our members have to say…

“Writers SA has been hugely instrumental in the development of my career. During my early years as an emerging writer, the centre enabled my introduction to South Australia’s literary community through the various events and workshops it held. The importance of this should not be underestimated. Many other South Australian writers – particularly those in rural areas – have since spoken to me about how encouraging and supportive they find this link to a writing community.”

– Hannah Kent, author Burial Rites, The Good People and Devotion.
