Whether you are writing an awkward first kiss, a steamy sex scene or just someone brushing their teeth, join Kris Kneen to learn techniques to lift your writing from the mundane into work that is an immersive, sensual, whole-body experience.

When you are watching a movie or TV your experience of the fictional world is mitigated by a screen. A book is a much more immersive experience and tapping into the sensuality of everyday life can make the reading experience so much more profound. Join Kris Kneen, author of Fat Girl Dancing and The Adventures of Holly White and the Incredible Sex Machine, to learn how your own writing can be lifted from the mundane into work that is an immersive, sensual, whole-body experience.

Through a series of exercises, activities, discussions and readings, this workshop will equip you with tools that will help you to see and describe your literary world in a more sensual light. These techniques apply to fiction, poetry and memoir and will help you bring the body onto the page which leads to a more immersive experience for a reader.

Please be aware that in this session we will be using and hearing correct terminology for body parts and what some might consider coarse language.

Suitable for all writers of any genre or form who struggle with writing the body or intimacy. You cannot attend this event if you are under 16 years old.

Participants will:

  • Learn how Kris Kneen has tapped into the sensuality of life across nine works of fiction, memoir and poetry.
  • Practice techniques which will help to meet the world sensually on the page.
  • Explore the body in literature.
  • Apply the techniques of writing sensual prose to writing about sex and sexuality.
  • Explore other works of fiction, memoir and poetry that use sensuality as a tool for immersive experience.
