Join writer and editor Lauren Bevilacqua to explore the intricacies of freelance writing in a short, pre-recorded session you can watch any time, anywhere. Whether for supplemental income, a living wage, or the love of the written word, you don’t want to miss this!

Writers SA presents an on-demand workshop that you can watch at your own pace for a limited time. You can then download resource sheets and a fact sheet with some key tips to help you develop diverse characters within your writing. **Please ignore the December date listed on the event**

Freelance writing is a popular career choice for writers who want to turn their passion into a profitable business, but it’s not like writing a novel and there are steps to follow and challenges to identify, especially if you're just starting out. In this on-demand pre-recorded session, participants will explore ways to build a writing-based business, generate and assess ideas, and identify steps for building a professional identity as a writer. We'll explore different types of writing services, find out who hires writers, and discuss how to write for money without sacrificing your love of writing. Whether you're considering writing as a full-time gig or just as a side hustle, this informative session is perfect for writers looking to start or expand their own writing business.

Participants will gain:

  • Ideas and tools to help work out what you could get paid to write
  • Tips for building a professional identity as a writer
  • Strategies for sourcing writing work
  • Practical insights on creating a sustainable writing business
  • Ways to keep writing fun (even when it’s work)
