Blackwood Writing Group

Blackwood Church of Christ, cnr Waite St and Shephards Hill Rd | Mondays at 7pm - 10pm

Group Genre: Crime, General, Science fiction and fantasy,

After 20 years of being fully active every Monday we have accumulated a lot of knowledge about writing, publishing, the industry and the development of projects regardless of size or subject. The key ingredient to the group is the idea of writing to be published.

We have a focus on Science Fiction and Fantasy, but members also write in areas of Romance, Historical fiction, science articles, war stories and personal journal type writing. The plan is for 3 – 4 writers to read about 2500 words of a current and developing work (short story/novel/poetry/non fiction) and allow the group, usually 6-8 members comment on the pros and cons of the work and even give an immediate emotional response.

Discussion is robust, there are no rules, and there are no fees. New writers need not bring work to read, just come along, make comments and get a general feel for how things work. Great fun is often had by all, and everyone is welcome. Call Rob upon arrival.
