The Teen Writers Club is a place for young writers to make new connections, be inspired, and develop their writing. We provide a safe, fun and engaging program for passionate high school writers of all interests, ages and abilities.
The club meets on Saturdays during school term (**see below)
in a private space at the Hutt St Library. It is guided by Writers SA staff, mentors and a guest teacher. The program is shaped by the interests of the group, and they’re supported to set and achieve their own writing goals.
We provide creative workshops, information on the industry and careers, mentoring, and the opportunity for support for school-based writing projects.
Term 2 of Teen Writers Club will be led by Alicia Carter.
Alicia is an author, podcaster, and academic who is passionate about helping others be inspired and realise the potential of their writing goals. She’ll help to discover where your stories might fit in the wider publishing world.
Alicia's short stories, poetry and personal essays have appeared in Westerly, Seizure, the Review of Australian Fiction, and Tiny Donkey, among others. She has won, or been highly commended for, the Imprints Booksellers' Short Story Award, the Salisbury Writers' Festival Short Story Award, and the Langhorne Creek Writers' Festival Short Story Award. She has taught English and Creative Writing at Flinders University, and currently works as an editor.
Early bookings essential. Class sizes are strictly capped.
