In 2025, the Adelaide Film Festival is thrilled to present two outstanding documentaries about two era-defining 20th century writers plus a terrific debut black comedy by WA theatre writer, Zoe Pepper.

ORWELL 2+2+5 — master documentarian Raul Peck (I Am Not a Negro) chronicles not only Orwell’s past but as a vital thinker for today.
BLUE ROAD: THE EDNA O’BRIEN STORY — a fine, fearless reckoning on one of literature’s most defiant voices.
BIRTHRIGHT — a dark satire on the collapse of the Australian middle-class dream of a house just like mum and dads.

Selection of winners and allocation of films will be conducted by random draw.
