Spend Valentine’s Day with a book!

Be it a night in, a night out or a night alone, Valentine’s Day brings emotions you either get behind or eat about, but you could also complete your day with a romance novel from a South Australian author this Wednesday!

Being the resident romance enthusiast at Writers SA, I’ve compiled a short (and incomplete) list for lovers of all kinds of romantic literature dedicated to relationships with happy endings guaranteed. You can also check out our Goodreads member list for more titles, and drop into Dymocks who continue to be great champions of happy endings and will happily point you in the direction of the love stories.

If you haven’t checked out the South Australian Romance Author offerings, click the link. You’re also in luck with the Romance Writers of Australia conference in Adelaide this August if you’re keen to work on your romance writing craft.

Let’s start with historical! We’ve got offerings from Elizabeth Rolls, Bronwyn Stuart (that’s me), Amy T Matthews writing as Amy Barry, and Nancy Cunningham.

For contemporary romance, we have Lisa Stanbridge, Joanne Speirs, Trish Morey and Clare Connelly.

For fantasy and paranormal romance we have Eleni Konstantine, Maggie Mundy writing as Maggie Rose, and Helen Walton. If retellings is your jam, Melanie Cellier will hook you up.

For MM with a bit of kink, including aliens, shifters and/or wolves, you might check out Robin Moray. If short erotica gets you in a mood, we have those covered too!

If you’re really keen to support indie authors, two new bookstores have opened in the last year or so. The first is at Murray Bridge and is called Fiction and Friction and the second is The First Chapter at Edinburgh.

However you celebrate this day of love, be safe, be spontaneous and be kind!
