Port Pirie Meet and Greet

Port Pirie Regional Library

Writers SA are coming to Port Pirie and we’d love to connect with as many writers as we can while we’re there! Our team will be at the Port Pirie Library Friday August 4 in the morning from 10am to 11am for an informal meet and greet. You can ask us questions about getting published, the industry, arts careers, grants, fellowships, Writers SA and more!

We’ll also be attending a SALA launch event on Thursday night August 3, at the Vivienne Crisp Gallery celebrating Writers SA member Tracy Crisp’s visual arts exhibition in honour of her mother – Pearls: Unstitched Threads of Love.

Pearls: Unstitched Threads of Love is a personal exploration of the bonds between mothers and daughters, the power of love, and the transformative nature of art. By repurposing her wedding dress as a canvas for the script of her show ‘Pearls,’ Crisp weaves together her mother’s legacy and her own artistic expression. The exhibition, held at The Vivienne Crisp Gallery, named after the artist’s mother, invites visitors to reflect on their own relationships with their mothers and the enduring strength of familial bonds. Accompanied by essays as well as video and audio clips, the exhibition delves into themes of grief, love, and artistic creation. Pearls: Unstitched Threads of Love, honours Crisp’s late mother, celebrates storytelling, and offers a space for contemplation, empathy, and healing.
