Secure a spot under the trees for the marvelously free six-day event. So…who will you see?
Day 1: Kick off Adelaide Writers’ Week with a day featuring some of contemporary literature’s finest fiction writers. And once it’s time for some true tales, hop along to the final sessions on politics and the making of one of the world’s most famous scientists. Don’t forget it’s Kids’ Weekend too! (see below)
Day 2: Memoir takes centre stage today as some of Australia’s most celebrated writers take to the stage with tales of horseracing, the big screen, Enid Blyton and doctors on the battle fields.
Day 3: Kids’ Weekend is now finished so we’ll welcome you to a quiet day of contemplation and conversations about war, earthquakes, suicide, World War II, a tricky marriage, the art of editing and a voyage out over the Pacific.
Day 4: Join us for a day that will kick off with the one and only Mitford girls, introduce a young man anda castle, NZ’s greatest living poet and a whole host of young guns with great new novels, a huge conversation about Russia and an epic escape from North Korea.
Day 5: Today will be a day of great characters including tsars and tsarinas, the ghost of Ted Hughes, two communes, two tales of violence in Mexico and South Africa, the Dismissal and a trip to the Coorong.
Day 6: Get in quick as the final day of Writers’ Week is chock full of tales of war, women, a desolate farm in the outback, a twilight history of Australian letters, a bit of cricket, a couple of grumpy women and a very dashing journalist peering into our future.
