Kate Clinch is a former GP whose medical knowledge proved invaluable in writing her debut novel, Every Inch a Saint: a Novel about Eileen O’Connor, Australia’s Second Saint-in-Waiting which was published in April 2026. Eileen, desperately ill and partially paralysed by a tuberculosis infection in her spine, was unstoppable in her commitment to set up a home nursing organisation for the sick in Sydney’s slums during World War I. Her inspirational legacy of hope and compassion is alive today.
