SA First Nations Writers Group

The South Australian First Nations Writers Group was established to foster and develop the continuing diversity and growth of local First Nations writing in South Australia and across the country. It is a place (on Facebook) to share opportunities, news and also to celebrate the work of First Nations colleagues.

Members of the SA First Nations Writers Group receive complimentary membership with Writers SA and access to a selection of free workshops. Contact us at [email protected] for more information.

You must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage to join this group. If you are an organization who would like to share an opportunity with the group or you’re looking for a First Nations writer for a paid gig, please contact the email above and Writers SA will pass it on.

The SA First Nations Writers Group is supported by Writers SA, with assistance from the Australia Council for the Arts, and Arts South Australia.

When we have active funding, Writers SA facilitates events and hosts speakers. In 2021, guest speakers included Anita Heiss, Alexis Wright, Kim Scott, Larissa Behrendt, Ambelin Kwaymullina, Alison Whittaker, Jared Thomas, Ali Cobby Eckermann, Pauline Clague, Angela Flynn, Rachel Bin Salleh, Richard Frankland and Tony Birch.
