With Gratitude and Best Wishes to Our Departing CEO

On behalf of the Board of Writers SA, I would like to share that Laura Kroetsch has made the difficult decision to step down from her role as Chief Executive Officer due to health concerns.

Although Laura’s time with Writers SA has been short, she has driven an integral expansion of our vision that writing is at the centre of life. Her contributions have stepped us towards a new strategic direction, and we are deeply grateful for her leadership and commitment.

As we navigate this transition, we take this moment to regroup and reaffirm our strategic direction. The Board and team will work closely to assess our priorities and firm up a renewed strategic plan that ensures we continue to deliver on our mission while positioning Writers SA for long-term success.

We extend our heartfelt support and best wishes to Laura and her family during this time. Laura’s health and well-being are our top priority, and we fully respect her decision.

Writers SA remains committed to supporting South Australia’s writing community, and we will keep you informed as we move forward.

Message from Laura

It has been an absolute pleasure being able to work for Writers SA this last year supporting writing and writing again. It is with such sadness that I finish this job, and leave this terrific team. I had hoped to stay cancer free and my biology disagreed. My task now is to care for myself, continue trying to speak, and reading, always reading.

I wish Writers SA and the membership the very best going forward, It’s not an easy calling being a writer, and as Grace Paley once said, “Art’s too long and life’s too short.”, so stay the course, do everything you can, and remember the task is part of the reward.
