Writers SA 2023 Winter Speed Book Launches – Expression of Interest

In honour of our hardworking members who didn’t (or don’t) get to have a book launch, we’re coming to the party with a party! Join us at the State Library’s Institute Building for a series of speed launches as part of our winter networking event.

If you’d like to be a launching author, you can fill out the EOI here. Authors will need to bring a minimum of 10 copies to the event to sell for cash sales.

What / When:

There are 10x author positions available for the 2023 Winter Speed Launch event. Each author will have a timeslot of five minutes to promote their chosen title – this could include your elevator pitch, a short reading, your process, etc. AV equipment will be available if required.

Expressions of interest are due 11pm Friday 30th June 2023.

Chosen authors will be notified of the outcome via email by 5th July 2023.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Books must have an original published date between July 2022 – June 2023.
  2. We will accept EOI’s from all published authors of physical books, no matter your publisher, age, gender, ethnicity or publishing history, but you must be a member of Writers SA.
  3. We are looking for a balance of genres, formats and styles.
  4. Authors will be required to add a brief note about how this opportunity will benefit them via the EOI application.
  5. Writers SA’s decision on the ten participating authors will be final and you must be able to make it on the day of July 30.

To view the submission form and apply, you will need to create a Submittable account (or sign into an existing Submittable account) using the buttons below.

If you are not successful with gaining a place, we’re compiling a print list for the event so you don’t miss out! By submitting this EOI form, your details will automatically be included in the list.

If you’re an author who released an ebook during this period, email [email protected] to be included.
