Join staff from Writers SA and Adelaide City Library on the last Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm for an informal hour that is usually genre specific or practice specific. Ask for advice, ask questions, tell stories or make up stories. You’ll come away motivated and ready to go home and put pen to paper.

Einstein called creativity ‘intelligence having fun’. It’s the mind at play in whatever way takes its fancy. Robert Dessaix (The Pleasures of Leisure) will deliver a special address on how to encourage the mind to come out and play, the importance of curiosity, and an inner life in the creative process, as well as the role of boredom and quiet. He will also discuss the way creativity may radically change as we grow older – in other words, Late Style. Have you got one? Creativity is fulfilling at any period in life, but it’s difficult to grow old well without mastering the art of it.
Admission only (A$22.00)
Admission plus a copy of The Pleasures of Leisure (A$50.00)
Join us at City Library Friday nights in November for a write-in!
November is officially NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and we know the pressure of getting the words down can be hard when you have to go home after work on a Friday and resist the telly and the food and the wine and the sleep. In this Nano series, we're going to be holding silent evenings of writing from 5:30pm until 7:30pm in the Tech Hub at City Library. Bring your snacks, your notepads or your laptop with your word doc ready to go and enjoy your creativity and writing time relatively distraction-free! Check in at the end of the evening if you want to share your word count.
November 1, 8, 15, 23 and 29th
This event is capped for comfort and room requirements. If we get more than the room holds, we will have an overflow but this will be in the main part of the library or a meeting room. Be quick to secure your spot and we'll email you before the first event to let you know more details!
This is a free event in conjunction with Adelaide City Library.
Venue: City Library Meeting Rooms, Level 3 Rundle Place, Rundle Mall, Adelaide, SA 5000
