Writers SA is making some changes to our membership pricing structure.
In the decades since our inception in 1985 as the first writers centre in Australia, Writers SA has maintained the same membership structure and pricing. And yet, the quality and amount of program offerings has consistently improved, delivering better outcomes and services to our membership community. As an organisation that seeks to remunerate its service providers (writers) fairly, keep course fees low, continue to improve and amplify our impact, and create a sustainable long term business model, we have updated our membership structure and pricing, including a new free option for those experiencing financial hardship. These changes are necessary so that we can continue providing a wide range of events, services, and support to our wonderful writing community.
The changes will take place from 1 February 2023:
Full membership – $98
Full membership is for emerging and established writers, and supporters of the South Australian literary sector.
Concession membership – $60
Concession membership applies to all concession card holders, including health care cards, student cards, seniors cards, as well as Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) members.
Group – $240 (small), $420 (large), bespoke
Small and large groups of people can purchase a group membership and receive benefits including complimentary venue hire. We also offer bespoke pricing based on your group type. Contact us for more information.
Pay It Forward – free
Recognising that there will be members who may experience financial hardship, Writers SA has established a Pay It Forward scheme, which will allow members to donate an additional annual membership to their own, and pay it forward to someone who may not be able to afford the fee. Writers SA holds a separate fund dedicated to this purpose, and those in need of such assistance are invited to self-select this membership option by contacting us.
New or existing members have the option of paying membership fees in full at the current rate, before rates go up. You can do this until 1 February 2023.
