Jessica Alice is new Writers SA Director
Dr Amy Matthews, Chair of the Writers SA Board, today announces Jessica Alice as the organisation’s next Director.
“I am delighted to welcome Jessica as the new Director. Jessica’s experience in literature and the arts makes her ideal to lead Writers SA into its next chapter. Her appointment is a great win for writers in South Australia. I want to thank our out-going Director and General Manager, Sarah Tooth and Fiona Smith, for the smooth running of Writers SA during this transitional period.”
Jessica comes to Writers SA with significant leadership and senior management experience, extensive networks, and a strong background in literature, publishing and the arts.
Jessica was previously Program Manager of Melbourne Writers Festival. She directed the National Young Writers Festival, and was part of the executive leadership team of Regional Arts Victoria. She is Deputy Chair of Melbourne Festival’s Shadow Board, a Board Member of SYN Media, and Chair of the Kat Muscat Fellowship.
Jessica is widely published as a writer, with works in publications as diverse as The Guardian Australia, VICE, Overland and Cordite Poetry Review. As a broadcaster, Jessica has presented and produced radio programs with 3CR Melbourne, Triple R and Radio Adelaide.
“I am thrilled to be joining Writers SA,” said Jessica. “It is an honour to continue Sarah Tooth’s impressive legacy and I am excited to begin work with the team. Writers SA’s members are the life force of the literary arts and, indeed, South Australia is home to some of Australia’s best-loved writers. It is a privilege to lead one of the state’s greatest creative organisations to support writers and promote literature’s place in Australia’s cultural landscape.”
Jessica’s first day as Director of Writers SA is Monday 2 July 2018.
