EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – GEORGE TOWN LITERARY FESTIVAL

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – GEORGE TOWN LITERARY FESTIVAL

SA Writers Centre is partnering with the George Town Literary Festival, in Penang, Malaysia, to include an established South Australian writer on the 2016 GLTF festival program. This opportunity is open to all current SA Writers Centre members (as at 30 March 2016) who are residents in South Australia and have a significant publication history in fiction, poetry or narrative non fiction. Preference will be given to authors with a recent (or upcoming) book release.

The festival runs 25, 26 and 27 November 2016. This year’s theme is Hiraeth, a Welsh word evoking a longing for a homeland that is no longer there.

This opportunity will cover airfares and accommodation. The author will be responsible for all other expenses including insurances, per diems and land transfers. All authors appearing on the GTLF program are paid an honorarium.

Acceptance of the writer and all details of the writer’s involvement and sessions will be at the discretion of the GTLF programming team. We expect to be able to give notification to the successful author by the end of May 2016.

To express your interest, submit your most recent bio and a brief statement of up to 250 words on the impact this opportunity would have on your creative or professional career, with a particular focus on market development. You may also wish to indicate how your work addresses this year’s theme. Applications should be submitted to [email protected].

Closing date: 5pm 22 April 2016.
