**SOLD OUT. Email [email protected] to be added to the wait list** Life can be hectic, and responsibilities often take priority, but it’s never too late to kickstart your dream of becoming a published writer! In this three session series, Karen Wyld will share her tips on publishing and forging a literary career after a 'certain age'.

The age-barrier is a myth that needs shattering. Daniel Defoe published his first novel, Robinson Crusoe, at 59; Richard Adams released Watership Down at 52 and his 21st book at 90; and Annie Proulx, recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, wrote her debut book Postcards at 57.

There are many reasons why writing goals are put on hold, or the inspiration to write didn’t occur until middle-age. This series of three workshops is aimed at new and emerging writers of fiction and non fiction, who are 45+ years old. In a relaxed setting, participants will be inspired, learn insider tips, discover what opportunities are available, and be supported to set achievable writing goals.

These workshops will help people to understand:

  • Mapping their writing goals
  • Commercial potential of their current/proposed writing project
  • How to pitch work; and rights and fair payment
  • Benefits and pitfalls within publishing streams: self-published, vanity and traditional
  • Opportunities for mature-aged new and emerging writers
  • Building support networks, claiming time to write, and dealing with rejection.

Meetings will be from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, Feb 2, 16 & March 2 at The Mitcham Library.
