Anyone can write poetry about anything. In this workshop you’ll be guided to draft a poem of your own by award winning poet and published author Caroline Reid.

With a focus on finding inspiration, generating new material and shaping it into a poem, there will also be opportunity for discussion, reflection and sharing what you’ve written. You’ll be surprised at how much you can write in a few short hours in this relaxed and supportive environment. Suitable for all levels including beginners and those who secretly want to write poetry but don’t know how to start. Includes a handout of writing exercises for you to try at home.

Participants will:

  • Learn tips and tricks for generating new material and crafting poetry
  • Write some poetry!
  • Leave with a handout of writing exercises to try at home
  • Connect with other like-minded poetry lovers.

This workshop is presented by the Writers SA No Limits: Young Regional Writers program and is aimed at Limestone Coast writers aged 30 and under, however writers of all ages are very welcome and encouraged to attend.

While in Mount Gambier, Caroline will also be presenting two performances of her spoken word theatre show SIARAD at the Limestone Coast Pantry for Mount Gambier Fringe, supported by Writers SA, Adelaide Fringe and Arts South Australia. Book tickets to SIARAD here.

We’ve made March a full month of poetry in the Limestone Coast. This is the last of three Limestone Coast poetry workshops in March 2022. We also have a workshop on 5th March with Gloria Demillo  in Mount Gambier and on 12th March with Emelia Haskey in Naracoorte, including an open mic event For the Love of Words and Wine. We also have an online concrete poetry workshop with Rory Green for World Poetry Day on 21st March.
