Tony Birch became the first recipient of the Dr Bruce McGuinness Indigenous Research Fellowship at Victoria University in Melbourne in June 2015. He won the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards prize for Indigenous Writing with Ghost River in 2017, the Patrick White Award in 2017, the Indigenous Writers' Prize in the New South Wales Premier's Literary Awards, and was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin in 2020 with White Girl. Tony's writing career didn't really get started until his 30's and has gone from strength to strength. Drawing on a career spanning award-winning novels, short stories, poetry and radio, Tony will present his top writing tips followed by a Q&A.

Tony Birch is the author of three novels: the bestselling The White Girl; Ghost River, which won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Indigenous Writing; and Blood, which was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award.
