Join freelance journalist, critic and editor Walter Marsh (The Guardian, The Adelaide Review, The Saturday Paper, The Monthly, InDaily) for an approachable guide to writing and publishing reviews and criticism, whether you’re passionate about music, film and TV, theatre, literature and art, or anything that makes you want to think and write.

Never in human history have we been surrounded by so many reviews. But when anyone with an opinion can sprinkle stars or scorn across the Internet, what role does a 'critic' play? And how can writing about art enrich the experience for readers, audiences, and us as writers?

Participants will learn:

  • Why do we write about art, and who are we writing for?
  • What makes a ‘good’ review?
  • Finding your voice as a critic and arts journalist
  • Pathways to publication
  • Build a rewarding and sustainable writing practice.
