Join writer and performance poet Chris Best in this full day interactive workshop to explore slam poetry (including techniques and feedback) and speak your own truth to power.

Chris will introduce you to the history of slam poetry, explain how a slam works and guide you through the process of creating your own slam poems. The workshop will be broken into two sections: a morning session focused on writing slam poems, and an afternoon session focused on performance technique and delivery so that all participants leave the workshop ready to present and perform their own slam poems.

Participants will:

  • Be introduced to the history of slam poetry
  • Write one or more new poems which fit the constraints of slam poetry
  • Have the opportunity to practice at least one of their poems with feedback from Chris and other participants to improve confidence and performance skill
  • Meet other like-minded poets/writers

This is an interactive workshop suitable for beginners.
