Where?

The Teen Writers Club is a place for high school aged writers to make new connections, be inspired, and develop their writing. We provide a safe, fun and engaging program for passionate young writers of all interests, ages and abilities.

Term 3 dates: 10:30am to midday - July 30, Aug 6, 13, 20, 27, Sept 3, 10 & 17

The Club meets on Saturdays during school term, and is guided by Writers SA staff, mentors and a guest teacher. The program is shaped by the interests of the group, and they’re supported to set and achieve their own writing goals. We provide creative content, information on the industry and careers, mentoring, and the opportunity for support for school-based writing projects.

Participants will:

  • Meet and connect with like-minded writerly peers
  • Develop and practise creative writing skills
  • Build a deeper understanding of the writing industry and pathways for the future.

About Piri Eddy

Piri is an award-winning writer, playwright, screenwriter, and producer based in Adelaide. He writes across genre and themes but often tends towards surreal stories about the climate crisis. Piri has previously been an emerging writer-in-residence at Writers SA and will be a writer-in-residence at The Mill in the second half of 2022. Most recently, he wrote and produced a music-documentary for NITV/SBS.

Piri loves to read just about anything, from literary fiction to graphic novels (and now that he’s got a young daughter, lots of children’s books, too!). He spends more time scrolling through Netflix looking for something to watch than actually watching anything, but likes slick TV with whip-smart dialogue and films with big ideas.

Venue: City Library, 3 Rundle Place, 77-91 Rundle Mall, Adelaide SA 5000

The presenter for this term is fully vaccinated and has all working with children certificates.

We are still encouraging classroom contacts to wear masks if attending the club and there are capacity limits so the club will be restricted to 19 students.
