Develop a 1-2 page comic that relates to a specific aspect, memory, passion, or philosophy relating to your current day-job or vocation.

In this in-person workshop, you’ll be guided to create a 1-2 page autobiographical comic, complete with story and sketches (you don’t have to be an artist for this part), to give you the fundamental tools to create graphic novels, posters, journal entries, and so on.

Whether it’s unionism or activism that fuels you, we’ll brainstorm topics to develop a brief script and plan before laying out your story. Participants will leave with a finished comic, or rough sketches and thumbnails that they can later develop into finished artwork.

Participants will learn:

  • Some of the strengths of graphic narratives, especially in relation to telling personal stories
  • How to plan, develop and refine an auto-biographical comic
  • How to write a concise script
  • How to storyboard and visualise a narrative

This workshop is suitable for everyone. You don't have to be an artist to attend, you just have to have the passion to learn and the courage to leap.
