HELPING WRITERS REALISE THEIR
CREATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL DREAMS

Event Registration

In this special workshop for World Poetry Day you'll explore the possibilities of digital tools to create poems that combine text and image.

Beginning with an overview of concrete, collage and other visual poetry movements, you'll then be guided through a series of practical exercises to create hybrid poems of text and image. This workshop will equip you with the tools and resources you need to get started: from the ethics of sourcing and adapting pre-existing visual material to the digital tools that make it simple and approachable to explore multimedia forms.

Suitable for... Poets interested in experimenting with visual forms. No technical experience or paid software necessary.

Participants will:

  • Explore the history of concrete and visual poetry
  • Apply visual storytelling principles to text
  • Create a concrete or visual poem with digital tools
  • Connect with other like-minded writers interested in poetry and digital experimentation.

This workshop is presented by the Writers SA No Limits: Young Regional Writers program and is aimed at regional writers under 30, however writers from all ages and locations are very welcome to attend this online workshop.

Due to the nature and activities of the workshop, you will need access to a computer (laptop or desktop computer) as you will not be able to fully participate using a phone or tablet.

Rory is also facilitating online workshops for writers interested in interactive narratives and digital storytelling so why not book into all three?
