There’s a range of arts grants, scholarships and fellowships available to writers in Australia at all levels of their career. Join local author Karen Wyld for a practical workshop on locating opportunities and writing applications.
As a mid-career author, Karen knows how important it is to submit strong applications. This workshop will look at some funding opportunities available for writers and how to apply, covering: grant terminology, eligibility and criteria, main steps to writing an application, developing project budgets, and tips for what panels might consider when assessing applications. Applying for scholarships, fellowships and travel funds for writers will also be discussed.
Participants will learn:
- Of funding programs that support writers while they develop new work or build skills
- How to decode grant criteria and terminology
- Basics of applying for grants and other opportunities
- Explaining project budgets and supporting material
- What panels are generally looking for when assessing your application
- How to cope with rejection, and trying again.
