Join award-winning journalist and author Paddy Manning for a masterclass on writing biography and investigative non-fiction, from developing the subject matter, research tools and processes, and turning an idea into a pitch proposal to publishers.

Join the author of The Successor: The High-Stakes Life of Lachlan Murdoch (Black Inc.), Paddy Manning, for an exclusive masterclass drawing on his more than twenty years in journalism and as the award-winning author of several biographical and non-fiction books.

Manning will delve into the intricacies of writing across his specialist genres of biography and investigative non-fiction, particularly on politics, media and climate.

Discover the tools of the trade, from research processes across interviews, drawing on archival records, and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, to structuring a gripping narrative from the facts for a general readership.

About Paddy Manning

Paddy Manning is the author of several award-winning books, including biographies of Malcolm Turnbull and Nathan Tinkler. During more than twenty years in journalism he has worked for Crikey, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Monthly, the ABC, The Financial Review and The Australian, and has won several awards for journalistic excellence. His book, Body Count, won the 2021 Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Nonfiction. His latest book is The Successor: The High-Stakes Life of Lachlan Murdoch.
