2019 Nature Writing Prize

The Nature Conservancy Australia is delighted to open the fifth biennial Nature Writing Prize.

The winner of the best essay (3,000 – 5,000 words) in the genre ‘Writing of Place’ will receive a $5,000 award and will be published as an online multimedia essay by Griffith Review – Australia’s leading literary quarterly publication.

The prize will be awarded to an Australian writer whose entry is judged to be of the highest literary merit and which best explores their relationship and interaction with some aspect of the Australian landscape.

Submission deadline is close of business Friday 1 February 2019 with the winner announced at an event in Melbourne in May 2019. The prize is open to Australian citizens and permanent residents. Read the Terms & Conditions.
