14th Ashurst Business Literature Prize

Entries now open for Australia’s most prestigious business literature prize

The State Library of NSW is calling for entries in the 14th Ashurst Business Literature Prize, Australia’s richest and most prestigious literary award for business writing.

Eligible books must have been first published between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017, and be commercially available in Australia within this period. Application forms and guidelines can be downloaded here.

The $30,000 Prize was established by Ashurst to reward exceptional literary works in the fields of finance and business and, importantly, to promote awareness about Australia’s commercial life among the general community.

NSW State Librarian Dr John Vallance said: “This prize has become one of the most significant in Australia, and we at the State Library are delighted to be able to support it.”

Most recent prize winners include: Catherine Bishop for Minding Her Own Business: Colonial businesswomen in Sydney (NewSouth); Stuart Kells for Penguin and the Lane Brothers: The Untold Story of a Publishing Revolution (Penguin Books Australia); and Andrew Burrell for Twiggy: The High Stakes Life (Black Inc.).

The winner of the 2017 prize will be announced in early 2018.

Entries for the 2017 Ashurst Business Literature Prize will close on Friday, 10 November 2017 at 5pm.
