Engaging the Senses is a workshop in writing and performance where participants will explore how poetry and memory exists in the body through physical movement, expressions and the voice.

By expanding the realm of the senses, you will learn how to immerse yourself in deep emotions to give your writing varied dimensions.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to use mindfulness and breathwork to engage their senses
  • Discover their authentic voice through working with Gloria to write their story
  • Develop their story through the feedback given and learn how to edit their work
  • Learn the basics of performance poetry (breathing, body movements, expression, how to use a mic)

This workshop is presented by the Writers SA No Limits: Young Regional Writers program and is aimed at Limestone Coast writers aged 30 and under, however writers of all ages are welcome to attend.

We’ve also made March a full month of poetry in the Limestone Coast. This is the first of three Limestone Coast poetry workshops in March 2022. We also have a workshop on 12th March with Emelia Haskey in Naracoorte, including an open mic event For the Love of Words and Wine and a workshop on 27th March with Caroline Reid  as part of Mount Gambier Fringe. We also have an online concrete poetry workshop with Rory Green for World Poetry Day on 21st March 2022.
