What creatures lurk in the shadows of your fantasy world? Join Zacharie the Brave as he coaxes them out of hiding and into the light.


Working on a fuzzy little buddy for your protagonist or interested in designing a terrifying, scuttling, stalking monstrosity as a piece of folklore for your world? Whatever type of beasties you're looking to conjure, use this time with Zacharie learn how to characterise your creatures, and pack them with a little more oomph!

 

Participants will:

  • Using uniquely designed majestic beasts to highlight the fantasy of your world.
  • Refining the features and descriptors used for your monsters.
  • How to break up tension and provide comfort or humour with a creature companion.
  • Several processes to refine the designs and decide how use them naturally within your story and world.
  • And the societal and cultural impacts that these strange species may have.

This workshop is presented by the Writers SA No Limits: Young Regional Writers program, and is aimed at regional writers under 30, however writers all ages and locations are very welcome to attend.

 


 

About Zacharie Steele

Zacharie Steele, is a young adult, fantasy writer and an emerging creative producer from the Riverland. Teaching others about storytelling has always been a passion of Zacharie's, and from this he founded Delving Around Gamez (DAGz), where he utlises techniques from tabletop roleplaying games to provide access, and help young people learn more about character writing, cooperative storytelling, and communication.

 

 

This is a FREE event as part of No Limits. This workshop is presented by Writers SA, with support from the Berri Barmera Council.

 

Venue: Barmera Memorial Hall, 24A Barwell Avenue, Barmera (between Part of Things and Bonney Theatre)
